Santander · Cebu to Siquijor
Cebu to Siquijor, the south route.
From Oslob or Santander, Siquijor is two short boat rides and one stretch of road away. Here is how the three legs connect, and where a night in Santander helps.
The short version
Liloan, Sibulan, Dumaguete, then Siquijor.
There is no direct boat from southern Cebu to Siquijor that we can confirm. The usual overland-and-sea route crosses the Tañon Strait from Liloan port to Sibulan, runs the short road to Dumaguete, then takes a second ferry from Dumaguete to Siquijor. Done smoothly, it is a day’s travel rather than two, but boats, operators and ports change, so use this page as a planning guide and confirm before you travel.
Leg by leg
Three legs, each fairly short.
Leg one is Santander to Liloan port by road, then the ferry to Sibulan on Negros Oriental, which takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes. For operators, tickets and arrival times, read our guide to the Liloan port ferry to Dumaguete; this page picks up once you land.
Leg two is Sibulan to Dumaguete, usually around half an hour by jeepney or taxi, to reach Dumaguete Port, where the Siquijor boats leave. Allow slack for the transfer, since you will want a ticket in hand before the boat you are aiming for.
Leg three is the Dumaguete to Siquijor crossing. Guides list several operators on this route, including OceanJet, Montenegro Lines, Super Shuttle Ferry and Anika Star, with Aleson Shipping also mentioned. Crossing times are reported anywhere from around 45 minutes to about two hours depending on the operator and vessel, with fast craft near the shorter end.
Arriving
Which Siquijor port?
Siquijor has more than one arrival point, and it matters. Siquijor Pier is described as the closest to the main tourist area around San Juan, while Larena is farther, so the onward transfer is longer. Which port you reach depends on the operator you pick, so check where each boat docks before you book.
Where you are staying on the island should decide the choice. Ask your accommodation how far it is from each port, and whether it can arrange a pick-up.
Timing
How long, and when to start.
One planning guide estimates around five to seven hours for the whole trip from Cebu City via Liloan, and that includes the bus leg up front. From Santander you skip most of that bus ride, so a realistic day is a morning start, two crossings, and an afternoon arrival, with slack for waiting.
Later departures from Dumaguete to Siquijor exist but are more limited, so do not plan a late afternoon start. Delays at Liloan or on the road can push you past the boat you wanted. Operators have also adjusted or cancelled trips in 2026, so confirm the current schedule with the operator the day before.
Practical tips
Make the connections easy.
- Book the Dumaguete to Siquijor ticket online where you can. Dumaguete Port is described as having long queues and touts, and boats can sell out at weekends and in the summer peak.
- Carry some cash for the Liloan ticket office and onward jeepneys or taxis.
- Travel light. Fast craft carry passengers only, with no vehicles, and baggage allowances vary.
- Bring valid ID and your e-tickets, and keep them handy for the port checks.
- Wear something for the sea breeze, and take motion-sickness tablets if you need them.
Good to know
- Peak season runs roughly from December to May, so book ahead in those months.
- Rough seas can change or cancel trips, especially in monsoon season. Keep your first night’s plans flexible.
- Do not tie the crossing to a flight or fixed pick-up on the same day.
Why break the trip
Sleep in Santander the night before.
Liloan port is in Santander, so staying here means the first ferry is minutes away instead of at the end of a coast-road drive from Oslob. You can sleep, swim, have breakfast and cross without rushing.
G Boutique Resort is on the Santander beachfront, with 10 cabanas, The Beach Villa for up to 25 guests, and G Bistro open daily 7 AM to 11 PM. Check-in is from 2 PM and check-out at 11 AM. We can arrange a pier transfer on request, quoted separately; there is no scheduled shuttle. The Oslob whale sharks are around 15 minutes away, so a morning with them before the crossing fits too.
